Rates and Charges
Rates to Hawaii and Guam are based on three components:
- Service to Gateway Service Center - use the appropriate base rate program for transport to Los Angeles, usually UPGF 560.
- Ocean Service - pricing from Los Angeles to the island service center is based on cubic foot. Refer to rates in the UPGF 305 tariff.
- Island Delivery – pricing for delivery upon arrival at the island destination is also based on cubic foot. Refer to rates in the UPGF 305 tariff.
Mainland Charges
Shipments will be subject to applicable class rates, discounts, individual tariffs or contracts from the point of origin on the mainland to the UPS Freight gateway service center in Commerce, CA (Los Angeles metro area).
Ocean Charges
Ocean shipping charges, including wharfage, apply from the UPS Freight gateway service center in Commerce, CA, through the Port of Long Beach, to our island service centers. Shipments with a density equal to or exceeding 45 lbs. per cubit foot will be rated on the basis of 1 cubit foot per 45 lbs.

Island Delivery Charges

Calculating Cubic Feet
Freight is measured on arrival in Los Angeles, as rates for Hawaii are based on cubic foot measurements (length in inches × width in inches × height in inches divided by 1,728 = cubic feet). Note: A weight factor may be applied to very dense freight on the ocean freight segment and island delivery segment. To ensure an accurate rate quote, freight should be calculated both by weight and cubic foot.
